National Textile Workers Union records, 1926-1932 and undated bulk 1928-1932.

Collection comprises primarily leaflets and handbills calling workers to organize, protest work speed-ups, or strike. There are also membership cards, press releases and newsletters, national council and conference documents, as well as questions used to gather information from workers about working conditions. The only item predating the organization is a supplementary statement on mill wages versus production costs for a 1926 congressional hearing.

Founded in New Bedford, Mass., in September 1928, focused organization efforts in Northeastern and Southern textile mills. Obtained national status in 1929, wh en the NTWU became the first affliate with the communistic Trade Union Unity League (TUUL). Disbanded about 1934 as a result of low membership.
